I keep breaking out I wish it would stop
Ask your dermatologist about prescription Fabior foam! Saved my skin!!
Does anyone have or had PIH or melasma?
This sounds so simple but it definitely made a difference in how agitated my acne got. WASH YOUR MAKEUP BRUSHES! 😂 it’s a pain of a job but 1 it stops bacteria building up and 2 your makeup looks so much better 🧡
This might be a gross post for some so I apologise in advance.. I have a MASSIVE cystic spot on my temple, it’s been there a few days but today I’ve woken up and my eyelid on that side is all puffy and the spot is bigger. I’ve not picked it only applied creams and tea tree oil to it, and a hot compress, what do you think I should do?
Doing an experiment: not using my conditioner for a while to see if that’s what’s causing the breakouts.
Y’all I did accutane for 10 months and got rid of all my cystic acne and even scars. I’m super grateful for this medication. I haven’t seen my skin this clear in over 10+ years. 🥺
I cut dairy out of my diet it’s so hard to do but i definitely seen an improvement in my skin.
Huge difference in only a week since I switched to softer wash clothes, changed conditioners and face wash, and cut back on conditioning. 👍
I’m currently I’m using Curology’s custom formula only, as well as an ACV face wash (with a general cleanser and moisturizer) and slowly but surely I’m seeing results of my PIH and dark layers fading away!
Anyone tried dermetica? It’s like the uk version of curology
Hi all, I have Cystic acne and while it's definitely gotten better after my adolescent years (22 rn), I'm still getting mild breakouts. Currently without health insurance rn, but what OTC products/skin care tips have been the most effective for you guys? Also, still have red inflammation spots and hyperpigmentation all over my front and back torso, so what tips/products have helped with this?
If anyone needs advise or help looking for a skin care routine or something for hair . Feel free to message , I’m not an expert but I’ll try my best to help:) I’ve been battling with acne since 5th grade , my face is clearing up a lot with some of the product I use now . Just let me know :)))))
What’s someone’s opinion on Roaccutane? How did it make you feel? Was it effective?
Dudu osun soap works wonders on my skin especially for making my bacne practically disappear. Also eating healthy and cutting out junk foods and lots of water always helps contributes to clear beautiful skin BUT! this soap works. Regular African black soap works as well (the block one that you have to cut info slices). Also sulfur soap works too but I prefer the black soap! Beauty supply stores sell it as well as online (some grocery stores might sell the black soap , depends). Anyway I hope this helps!! 😊😊💕
Anyone here get whitehead breakouts from simple carb and high GI food consumption?
Hi guys, if you got any questions as to skin care or brands, hit me up! 🤙🏼 I’m no expert but have had acne since middle school and tried all brands - from dermatologist ones to drug store ones (think Neutrogena, Nivea, Vichy etc) over luxury brands (LaMer, SKII, Dior etc) up to the ones we think must be great (looking at you, Clinique!) All the way to organic or innovative ones such as (111 Skin, Lush, Sunday Riley and more). My skin is more on the dry side but tends to break out whenever there’s just the tiniest bit of emotional stress or a chemical too harsh in the products used. I have not had any cystic acne or similar so can’t help on this but will try my best with the acne we all love and hate. 💪🏼
Hi together 👋🏼 Hope you all are doing well and had a good start in the week so far! If any of you ever wondered about what’s in their skincare or literally any product you put on your skin (body and face) make sure you check for the safety of ingredients (also on whether they’re comedogenic aka pore clogging) on cosdna.com 👈🏼 There you can either look up your specific product or just copy and paste the ingredients under ‘analyze cosmetics’ It’s a great tool and has helped me a lot when trying to decide between products that promise the same effect but one with safer ingredients than the other 😊 Have a great week ❤️
Oh and just so you know: safe ingredients might take a bit longer to start working / until you see results. Can be more than one skin renewal cycle. Skin restoration takes time! Especially when you have been using harsher products designed to combat acne - drying doesn’t mean it’s better in the long run 😬 But hey! Keep the good energy because in the long term they’ll be better for you, your skin and ultimately your own well-being 🙌🏼
I’ve come a long long way in the last 2 years with my acne. I still have dark or red spots in certain areas though. Most of it has faded. But I still tend to wake up with oily forehead.. I’ve been getting breakouts on my temples and T-Zone. (Between eyes) I just wish it would stop already. And wish the spots would fade completely I want a clear complexion if possible. What can I do to stop acne .. I can’t remember the last time i went 2 weeks without a pimple showing up .. I think my skin is a mess besides acne too. Oh well
My pores are noticably bad. I keep running into sources that say there's truly no way to shrink them. But I would like help with oiliness and unclogging them if possible. My skin type is very oily and prone to redness. I use Tretinoin but haven't noticed it helping with my pores. I own products with some ingredients like salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, etc. but because I've been using Tretinoin, I've been hesitant to use anything else medicated because I hear it can cause irritation. I also have some masks, but again, I'm worried about irritating my skin or over-drying it since I'm already using Tretinoin. I use a basic cleansing bar (non-medicated), alcohol-free toner, Tretinoin, and oil-free moisturizer. I don't want to buy more skincare products but maybe someone could explain how I could use products I already own in combination with the Tretinoin to improve my pores? (Like if you think I should use a product with a certain ingredient, could you tell me if I should use it before putting on Tretinoin, or use it every other day, etc.?) Thanks.
What’s up y’all hope everyone is staying consistent with their skincare routines & seeing positive results ! I wonder if the wisdo acne community can help me out. I used to use the proactiv deep cleansing wash with 2% salicylic acid for my forehead & it worked wonders ! But they have discontinued that product and only sell a deep cleansing body wash.. so I’ve been looking at neutrogena products as they are much more affordable & I use the neutrogena rapid clear stubborn acne with benzoyl peroxide for my back and it works great.. unfortunately benzoyl peroxide doesn’t work on my face as well as salicylic acid.. go figure.. anyway... I’m hoping someone knows about these products & can give me some advice on what to try. Neutrogena has an “Oil-Free Acne Wash Cream Cleanser” with 2% salicylic acid. But they also have a “Oil-Free Acne Wash Daily Scrub” this one also includes 2% salicylic acid but unlike the first one I mentioned this one states that it doesn’t include plastic micro-beads.. I’m not sure if the cream cleanser has those beads as it doesn’t mention it at all but the beads wouldn’t be good for my sensitive combination skin.. lastly, neutrogena has what they call a “deep clean cream cleanser” which reminds me of the product I was using from proactiv however this neutrogena product does not state the percentage of salicylic acid.. so it’s quite the dilemma haha. Really any advice will help. Thank you if you’ve taken the time to read this all.
Forgot to mention in my last post.. but besides weekly-monthly acne.. my skin is dry and oily (combo) I get whiteheads and red bumps cystic acne all that. My nose usually always has blackheads.. my most prone spots are my temples and my t-zone. I used to apply clindamycin and tretinoin for a little over a year. But was able to come off those prescriptions.. anyway, as I look for a new OTC routine .. does anyone have any recommendations for a product that will help even my skin tone and get rid of dark post acne marks ???
Hi everyone! I’d like to share what is working for me and a few tips: When in the shower make sure to turn the temperature down to lukewarm while washing your face. As for exfoliation the best thing you can do is find a liquid exfoliator that works well for you. As soon as I switched to using CeraVe foaming facial clenser my skin massively improved. If your skin isn’t very oily I’d use the regular CeraVe clenser. The CeraVe moisturizing lotion has worked very well too. Personally I use the The Ordinary line from deciem for my liquid exfoliator and serums. They cost around $3-6 per bottle. It’s important to patch test before using any of these and not all will necessarily be ideal for you. Toner: Thayers witch hazel Rose pedal. (After cleansing) lactic acid 5% + HA for the exfoliator. (Most important to patch test) use after toner. Niacinamide 10% + Zinc 1% (also important to patch test) use after exfoliator or after toner. EUK 134* 0.1% for antioxidants each morning before applying the moisturizer. 100% organic cold-pressed Rose hip seed oil nightly before moisturizer.
Hi everyone, my name is Sara and I recently joined Wisdo as a helper so I can connect with others and help them through what they’re struggling with. I have personally dealt with severe cystic and hormonal acne from age 13-now. I have a bachelors in psychology and am pursuing a graduate degree in social work. I’m excited to meet you and help you through these tough times. I am hoping to gain as much real world experience in helping others on here as I can and look forward to learning about all of you :)
Trying out something different. I’ve been washing my hands and exfoliating gently with my fingers while in the shower several times a while. Whole thing started because I couldn’t wash my face properly with cleansers after my surgery, but I noticed it was starting to clear up finally. At first it was worse, but I *think* what’s happening is old cystic acne that’s been lodged deep in my skin is finally coming to the surface and now able to dry up at long last. My skin feels so much smoother now even beneath the surface where hard bumps hid. Fingers crossed. Worst case scenario, I go back to using all the other that ‘kinda’ worked. 🤷🏻♀️
I’ve had so much luck using Curology! It has saved my skin so I just wanted to share :)
Ok SO my face continues to shift between clearer and old acne still coming to the surface, but my face is noticeably smoother. I did however accidentally over exfoliating my body so I eased up on that, switched to an exfoliating soap for every 3-4 days, using a rosewater witch hazel every other day, and vitamin C moisturizer. Some thing about this routine is finally making my body acne clear up, which has me very happy.
My condensed acne story: I had severe hormonal acne from age 17-22. Contraceptives and Curology both really helped my skin. I had tried everything from Accutane (too many side effects) to apple cider vinegar to fix the issues. Though I still deal with acne scars and am getting treatments for that, overall my skin has improved. But I still get acne as a 28 year old, and I recently realized it was due to all the cheese I was eating! I don’t think I’ll ever be acne free, but at least things have really improved from where I started. I wish everyone luck on their journey and if you need to vent about your skin, I’m here!
Has anyone tried Adaptogens to help with hormonal acne? I don’t really know much about it. Just wondering if it’s worth a try.
If anyone need to talk I’m here for them! Like is so beautiful let’s not think of negative things we already have to much of that! Let’s stay positive life has so much to offer us and we should take advantage of all the opportunities we are giving!! Let’s take life not for granted we only have one and enjoy it to the fullest don’t let no one or nothing stop you I believe in all y’all!!!!
I’m beginning a six month course of accutane for body acne, oily skin and hair and facial acne. However, I am most concerned about my sudden appearance of acne. I haven’t had as much of a struggle with acne on my face as opposed to Seborhheic dermatitis and a heavily oily scalp. Is it odd that I’m having these symptoms at 26 years old? Has anyone had a sudden breakout of acne in their twenties, unrelated to environmental conditions? Unrelated, as I am currently socially distancing:
Roaccutane 🙌🏻 doing bits
Trying finacea foam currently. It’s intended for rosacea which I do not have, but helps reduce inflammation so it can tread acne. So far it seems to be doing okay, but I’m still not convinced.
I’ve been recently using a face wash that has benzoyl peroxide and I’ve noticed that my face started flaking a lot. For now I’ll cut back on using it (just for once a day) and I’ll incorporate an oil free moisturizer after washing my face. Are there any other tips to get rid of the flaking or what I’m doing is fine because it comes with the territory?
