Hi I’m going to ask to join karate soon. And my anxiety is getting ahead of me. Because I have a terrible understanding but I wanna join karate to feel good about myself. I’m not so much concerned about asking to join it’s just the lessons I’m worried I might not understand somethings.

Positive choice to learn karate. We are all in the class to learn. There will always be certain things each student may not understand. The instructor is there to teach, and answer questions. Enjoy the lessons!

Hi Cody! Congrats on thinking about getting on the martial arts train and doing something that will positively impact your life 😄 I can understand where you're coming from, I was actually very anxious and scared about starting kendo (Japanese sword martial art) back in university because we had to shout and be quite assertive in our movements, something I never would have thought I would be able to do! But I did it for over a year and even joined a competition in the end 😆 Any martial art will definitely be a bit tricky at the beginning, and even throughout I'd say, but my dojo's motto was 'everything is difficult before it is easy'. If you want to practice karate, go for it! Your sensei and colleagues will be there to help you, what you don't understand you'll learn as you go along 😁 Speaking from experience, starting a martial art has been one of the BEST things I did for myself. It improved my confidence, my physical health and made me more sociable (I was dealing with some social anxiety back then too 👀). If you need some encouragement, I say do it. Join a class, see how you feel and if you don't like it, you never have to step foot in the dojo again. If you do, maybe you'll find another family and place to call home while embarking on a life-changing practice ☺️ Ganbatte ! (Good luck~)

Arigoto lorena. I sometimes struggle to understand what people are telling me and I go into a panic. It’s been along time since I done karate I was a young boy at the time but I left a white belt. But now I’m back to try it again. I need this I want a change I want my life to feel accomplished again.

Understandable, it can be a bit intimidating when you don't understand to start with! Good on you for making a change, would love to see you share your experience in the communities and let us know if karate improves your life in any way (no doubt it will 😆🙌)
