You probably know exercise is good for you, but did you know that exercising outdoors can have a substantial impact even at very low intensities?

Exercising in nature can have far greater mental benefits then exercising indoors, and these benefits can be seen in as little as 10 minutes, at every intensity ranging from very low like a slow walk to sprinting, and everything in between.

What if I am afraid to go outdoors by myself except in my car?

Benefits include improved self-esteem, improved mood, and are noticed especially in people with anxiety and depression.

It’s at the end of my driveway. But I can change that and make it my new exercise program. It also supplies vitamin D. It is harder in the winter when it’s freezing so I have to double up my Vitamin D.

Yes Mike, if you can safely walk to your mailbox you might experience the benefits of green exercise.😊

Simply exercising outdoors might not produce these benefits if you live in the city or a place where there is not a lot of greenery, or scenery you enjoy, and safety always comes first. So if you cannot safely exercise outdoors then you should not.

Here are some tips - keep in mind, having a buddy to accompany you is always recommended. * Explore - visit nearby parks on the weekends or whenever you can fit it in. *Gardening and yard work are a great way to get your green exercise in. * Assuming you work in a place that meets the requirements for green exercise, take a walk during your lunch break and if you can recruit a co-worker to go with you. * If you normally work out anyway skip the gym on a nice day and exercise outside. * Go on a photography walk, this will make it more interesting.

It might not be feasible to exercise outdoors everyday, fit it into your normal weekly exercise whenever you can.

Also pay attention to heat and humidity, as well as cold. Be sure to always dress appropriately and stay hydrated.
