Tip #12 - have a buddy system or some type of support system in following out the steps in your healthy lifestyle. This can be a friend, a family member, we're fellow Wisdonians. Your buddy or buddies can include those on the same path as you or those who simply want to see you succeed.

Tip #13 - Load up on veggies. Try to eat a variety in all colors of the rainbow. Veggies are low in calories and provide essential fiber and nutrients that are critical and health and weight maintenance.

Tip #14 - keep a food journal. This will hold you accountable to everything you eat even when you're standing up, lol. It's also a very effective tool in tracking habits that may not be the healthiest.

I’ve been struggling to keep up my workouts daily, but have lost 3 inches around the waist in a month

Let's take this one step further, recording exercise, sleep, and mood only takes a few more minutes and can prove to be very insightful.

I’ve been keeping a diary, with various points to check - calories burned on exercise equipment, repetitions done, waist size, intensity on the machine. I try to track my progress with them all

Tip #15 - practice mindfulness. Paying attention to ourselves is critical to overall health and achieving and maintaining healthy weight. Be mindful about what you were eating, pay attention to your hunger cues and how they relate to other factors in your daily life. Eat slowly and deliberately. In terms of exercise, pay attention to how you feel while you're exercising, as well as after, modify accordingly. All exercise should be treated as mind body exercise.

Tip #16 - consistency is key! Set your long-term goal and then sort of forget about it. Instead focus on the little baby steps - the small things that you need to do each and every day that will help you to achieve that goal. Sometimes focusing on a big goal can be a little overwhelming, and we feel we won't ever get there. But you will if you're consistent! Have faith. If you have a day where you're not on track don't beat yourself up. Get right back on track the next day. ☺️💪

Tip #17 - Adopt the mentality of permanent healthy lifestyle changes, not temporary changes in our habits to achieve a particular goal. The little things that you can do each and every day to achieve your goal, are the same things to maintain your goal, possibly with modifications depending on your situation.

I really want to have better habits, but stress/depression has been getting in the way a lot. Going back to work in two weeks makes it difficult to maintain routine also

Yes any change can can create a challenge. Have a plan well ahead of how you're going to maintain the good habits you've adopted. Please stay in touch and let me know how you are doing. If this time no longer works for you when you go back to work, please message me. On a positive note, many times having a full schedule, working and maintaining an exercise routine, can minimize anxiety and depression. Hopefully that is the case for you Becca.☺️
