How is everyone feeling today?

When we think of fitness we think of many different things so I will start off today by giving you my definition of fitness. Fitness encompasses the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of good health. Fitness is something we strive for everyday not something we can save or store, but something that can be achieved at any age, it has no time limit or boundaries, and that's a great thing! My job is to help people do this.

Has affected your fitness any way? Positively or negatively?

Oops, typo. Has the pandemic affected your fitness in any way? Positively or negatively?

There are some people who are actually feeling more fit during the pandemic; getting some outdoor exercise, eating healthier, etc. and I'm always happy to hear about those successes. Unfortunately though, many are feeling isolated and not very motivated to keep up with their fitness.

The question is how can we stay motivated to be fit?

Knowing the benefits is helpful, feeling the benefits is what really keeps us on the fitness road.

Physical activity helps bump up the production of your brains feel good nor a transmitters called endorphins.

Hi Tiffany I’m totally struggling in the pandemic. I was a gym bunny going every day but the gym is closed again and I just can’t exercise at home on my own. I need someone shouting at me!

Hi Casey, you're like many gym goers, having a hard time keeping up with it on your own.

Why is it so much harder on your own!

One recommendation I can make is to enlist a buddy. Even if you're not physically working out together you can check in with each other. Do you have somebody like this in your life?

In addition to the physical benefits, regular exercise decreases stress depression and anxiety and improves self-confidence overall mood and mental state of mind.

Great, so you can check in with me. Think baby steps. Commit to doing some type of exercise for 5 minutes, just start there and see where it goes.

Thankyou Tiffany I appreciate the offer 🙂 I know when I’m exercising I feel invincible but it’s too easy to fall off the wagon in this lockdown.

Also choose something easy, like walking outside, or walking up and down your steps. Remember you're starting small.

Keep your eye on the benefits. How do you feel when you exercise versus not exercise?

It’s a vicious circle I feel lousy because I’ve not exercised then I feel too low to start exercising again. It’s ridiculous when it’s such a simple fix. I don’t have anything physically wrong with me!

Remember, just start small, go out for a run or walk, do some push-ups, even doing a little bit will help you on the road.

I was doing 7 zoom classes a week in the first lockdown but that was summer and now I’m struggling with dark nights and cold weather. I don’t know why it makes such a difference. Other than I’m permanently working from home now whereas I wasn’t before so I end up working much later.

I need to remind myself how good exercise feels, it is so addictive for me normally

Yes that is true, that's why it's helpful to set your goals small at first, just to get going, maybe you'll end up doing more, but if not it's okay, it's a start.

I’ve tried exercising on my own with pre-recorded classes but they just don’t motivate me at all At least a zoom class is better than nothing, it definitely isn’t equal to the energy in a live class and I don’t get as much out of it, plus my room isn’t equal to a studio with aircon!

But you’re right I have to start small, do something every day. I can’t just give in and wallow like this, it’s ridiculous that I can’t sort this out when I know the benefits are huge 🙂
