Does anyone feel like they have a sense to really see someone’s true character? Like I feel like I can really really read people well.. I’m still figuring it out. it kind of makes ur hard to build relationships.

Here’s a tip for you on thinking in a better way: Instead of thinking, “Why is it happening this way?” Think, “I can’t control everything to go my way.”

I have a mate of mine who has found newfound knowledge around the occult relating to Ancient symbols and anatomy specifically the brain (kinda hoping someone here gets what I am talking about or maybe understand the situation.) He is blurting on constantly repeating things he has read but hasn't learnt. It is hard to explain but he sends very vague constant messages. One liners. Repeats phrases. I have seen this before and I think he is having one of those moments where he is very excited about this newfound knowledge and wants to repeat it and pass it on even if he doesn't fully understand it himself. I mean I don't either and I have been diving into this every now and then for over a year and I don't know if I remember feeling such a way. I mean it is great and fascinating but I think he has just let go of his dopamine/endorphin levels... I would like to calm him down but I think he would see it as an insult. At the moment I am ignoring him because it is borderline crazy but I am sure it is just a phase. Like I said I have seen this stuff before but haven't actually experienced it myself especially from an actual friend. He is a nice bloke.

While I was spinning this morning I ran across a Facebook post about some divers who had saved a whale from ropes and netting, and how following this the whale had gone around to every diver and gently given them a thank you nudge. It was a very spiritual experience for many of them which they described, as one man said “I’ll never be the same.” My thoughts is “of course... a giant ‘beast’ who could destroy you, gently nudged you as she might one of her young, you will be changed.” Here were my thoughts in response on growth. I’ll probably post this on the spiritual posts as well as growth and spirituality are pretty much inseparable in my mind. Ponder all this this week and see what happens in you. This is one place where humans got it right, and as a result they had a life changing spiritual experience. In watching documentaries on Jane Goodall lately, I love how she talks about the spiritual experiences she has with animals. It’s sad to me however, that the documentaries speak like this is a new thing, i.e. this truth was discovered and propagated by a, as far as I know, straight white woman of European ancestry. Native American spirituality, which we did our best to destroy, has all along spoken of “two legged people” and “four legged people” i.e. animals. Native Americans have a worldview of equality and shared space with creation, horizontal power structures, versus ownership and vertical power structures, something much more akin to true following of a Triune Creator than I have ever experienced in American Christianity. Perhaps one day even Christians will come to see who the triune Creator really is when we stop trying to get everyone to look and believe the same. There is so much diversity in creation and yet the Christian culture I’ve known in my lifetime seems to believe that everyone must look and believe the same things in order to “be saved.” What a small view of an infinite God. I believe Jesus is “the narrow road,” but what this means is that the road is as broad as Jesus, AND that Jesus can do whatever the hell he pleases with the damn road! Hug leper’s, let prostitutes kiss his feet, violate all the laws when they get in the way of love, except the law of love because the law of love is first and last, it is our arche and our telos, our beginning and our end. When Jesus said we have to become like children to enter the kingdom of God (i.e. to know what it is to truly live), I believe he was trying to tell us we need to have a “celestial openness.” This beautiful phrase was coined by Patricia Kuhl who studies infant linguistics. Infants ARE OPEN, this is why they can grow into something larger than they previously were. But as we grow we think we’ve arrived and then everybody should be like me. This has only ever brought death to growth and religions and cultures. If we want to be alive we need to become open. This shouldn’t be a hard concept even for Christians who say they believe in an infinite God, except that sadly Christian culture believes that in their culture and their way of being life will be found, i.e. there’s no life to be found in Native American culture (any indigenous culture as far as that goes) or Buddhism, etc. How sad. Many who claim to be Christians are nothing like infants, eyes open to the diversity of the world and seeking to understand all of it, and allowing their thought structures to be changed by new information. No, most of us Christians have been more like Pharisees, following all the rules we can find, harming others who do not follow our rules and believing they are on the path to destruction. If we don’t understand something, or it hasn’t been taught to me in church or in the Bible then it must be wrong, right? What a small “god” many Christians “worship” (and for that matter anyone who lies on the conservative spectrum of any religion). Those who allowed themselves to connect with a whale will NEVER be the same? Yes. Because an infinite Creator can not just be found in one small space, or one small set of ideologies, or one small culture or way of being in the world! To do so would be the opposite of infinite. An infinite Creator makes all of life sacred, or as Rob Bell says “everything is spiritual.” The apophatic theologians have a handle on things when they say it may be easier to say who God is NOT than who God IS. How do you define I AM? The whale knows something many do not, so perhaps we can learn from the whale what it means to be more human, like the Creator, who after all clearly said the heavens and earth display their glory. I am not saying these things because I’ve arrived, ask anyone I’ve tried to love. No, I love as poorly as anyone else around me. I am saying these things because I’ve spent my life struggling to overcome a narrow minded Christianity which made me more lost than found. I am on a journey of trying to become more like a child again, more open, and thus more alive... maybe even more like the whale. Hah!

I remember when I used to be on here more frequently. It used to be for a different reason. Now I'm more dormant with this app and even on days I want to share something, i just end up skipping the post. It's nice to see I can still try to state a point that bares no significant outcome either way. I wonder if that's something or nothing 🤔
