Hi lovely folks! It’s Wednesday and we’re live!
I would love to share some of the things that I have been implementing in my own life in relation to wellbeing, and in particular EMOTIONS. I have had some strong emotional experiences in the last week that quite frankly have caught me a little offguard. Anyone else?
Im learning that the stronger the emotional experience the greater the opportunity to rewire and retrain my brain
You may be wondering what this has to to with navigating change! Sometimes we want to badly to focus on our next steps and action plans but the more pressing issue is that we’re feeling hijacked by our emotions. It’s not likely we’ll be able to take meaningful action until we have a sense of space to the emotion
So what to do when we find ourselves in the depths of an intense emotion?
I borrow a process from my friends at Vision Pursue SEE Separate (I am not the emotion, the emotion is happening TO me) Embrace (thank the emotion for telling me something important- aim not to fight or resist it but welcome it **all emotions are good!! Evaluate (is there a response needed? Can I get back to the present moment?)
My nugget to leave you contemplating this week is to consider the statement “hmm that’s interesting” If your expectations aren’t being met, if your emotions are taking you in a rollercoaster...you could approach it with “hmm that’s interesting” and simply observe. What other info is offered, how perhaps does this offer a neutral place to take in information ..
