I know resolutions has a bum rap, and many people have given up on them because they’ve never succeeded. So let’s not talk about resolutions!

Instead, let’s think about choosing a theme for the year. Not sure if anybody’s here, if you are please say hi. And if you’ve chosen a theme for this year or in a past year, let me know!

Hi Megan! I love setting goals and then taking the steps to achieve them as well, that really helps us in moving forward and in having a purpose!

Have you ever set a theme for the year, such as this is the year of courage or a follow through or of love? Or faith?

When you have a theme, it’s easier to base decisions and intentions for the new year. So for instance, if I want to improve my artistic abilities, and I was trying to make a decision on whether to do this or that I could ask myself, “is this improving my artistic ability?”

Hi! What does happiness smell like?

Welcome Hannah! That’s a good question – to me happiness smells like fresh coffee in the morning, or flowers, or a babies head, so many things smell like happiness to me! What smells like happiness to you?

For me happiness smells like rain, a book, Grandma's perfume, ink, a strange mix of my friend's hair shampoo and cigarettes, coffee, fresh flowers, cold nights and an exceptionally bright dawn.

When we set goals, if we have a quality that we would like to enhance for the year- such as courage, love, faith, It can help guide us when we’re wondering what to do. So for instance if it’s courage, we can ask her selves before making a decision what would a courageous person do? If its face what would a faithful person do?

I think it’s really important to be clear on what you want, how attaining that goal will improve your life. Why do you want to make the change?

So with your goal, it’s important to really think about how important it is to you! How committed are you to achieving it? If the commitment level is low he may want to choose something different. You also may want to write down your reasons why you want to do this, so you can remind yourself once in a while! It helps with the motivation!

Once you have your goal, close your eyes and imagine it’s a year from now you’ve accomplished what you set out to. How do you feel? How was your life changed? How and where are you celebrating?

If you can’t visualize in pictures that’s fine, just close your eyes and let the words come.

Then write about you vision! Such as: Dec 31, 2021I’m so happy and grateful that I decided to enhance my artistic abilities this year. I found so much joy in the practice and have really enjoyed giving my gifts away to loved ones and seeing the pleasure on their faces! I’ve even sold some to people And can hardly keep up with the demand! I feel so proud and excited and happy!

You may want to buy yourself a book, and call it your success journal. Put your goals on the first page and the reasons why they are important to you, so when you get low motivation you can remind yourself why!

Write your vision down as well so you don’t forget. Review it once a while.

So you can use the success journal each morning, and write the steps that you want to take. So for instance, I like to set myself three steps to do each morning. One that will enhance my happiness, one that will enhance my health, and one that will enhance my wealth.

Then, at the end of the night I write down my accomplishments, all the steps I took, big or small to enhance those areas of life.

On those days when you don’t feel like you’re accomplishing much, you can look back in the journal and see all you’ve done! Makes you feel good

The other thing to do when you said a goal is look at the barriers that could get in your way, and set up strategies to overcome them. Internal as well as external barriers.

Identify what you tell yourself that could sabotage you and create replacement thoughts.

So for instance, “I’m too tired”- and figure out what you can replace it with, such as “ what is one small step I can take?”

You might want to put that at the beginning of your journal as well, so when a block comes up, you remember how to take it down.

Another thing you may want to do to be successful with your goals is look at if you want to be here at the end of the year, where would you want to be three months from now. So you can create a smaller goal of the bigger goal,

The big thing to remember is this is for your benefit, so if you don’t achieve something, it’s not about beating yourself up. Instead, use curiosity And ask what you could do differently next time

And remember to celebrate along the way! Each night, when you write down your accomplishments in your journal, celebrate! Give yourself a hug, Say, “well done!!! “To yourself. Give yourself a pat on the back, reward yourself! Have fun with this!
