Hi I’m a 5’1, 18 years old and a female who is about to sign up for a 2 year contract this Monday .. I understand there is ‘BASIC TRAINING’, as a female .. I am concern about pads, shaving, makeup etc.. are we allowed to bring pads? Razors? Makeup? (By makeup I mean to fill in my eyebrows, and to pluck eyebrows out ..)
Also any advice ??? I’m really excited but also extremely scared .. I have been looking at pure videos on YouTube and it’s making me not want to go anymore .. anyways advices ?

Hey y’all So next Monday I am going to be meeting with an army recruiter and I’m feeling pretty nervous because I feel like there’s things that I need to do before I get in because when I get in I want to get in for good so I want to try out some things so I don’t regret not doing them on the future
DOES ANYBODY KNOW WHATS THE SHORTEST PERIOD OF TIME YOU CAN JOIN FOR??

Sucks to say that I feel like the only way imma make weight for the marines is to purge a lot and all of that regardless of the amount of exercise I’ve done. I just wanna live doing my dream job. That’s all I ask

So I’m attempting to join the US Air Force... when getting my health records, I found out that while I tried to see if pills would help with my “anxiety” during a rough patch of time, I was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder. My recruiter is trying to get a waiver for this, as we are continuing on. What’s the likelihood of the waiver not being accepted? Are there any ways I can show that I am mentally fit? Has anyone been in a similar situation?

I'm in the Air Force Reserve and I just received news from my fiance that he's in the process of joining the Marines full time (reserves is not available) even though he already has a great job at home. This is leaving me worried, I don't think personally it's the best branch to join, and I'm trying to keep an open mind about it. What can I do? How can we make this work? SHOULD I BE WORRIED?!?!

Talking about my service (really lack thereof as I'll explain) is tremendously traumatic not in the way many soldiers would view it. The fun part was actually doing the training and having structure impressed and the yelling to motivate me every morning, that was my cup of tea. What wasnt my cup of tea was when I found out my daughter was being raped by her mothers boyfriend at the time when I was on christmas exodus... Once I found that out army life was over for me... I returned and half assed the rest of training just so I could flunk out and take care of my daughter. Had it been a one time issue and her mother wouldve left the situation I may have stayed and completed it all, but it was much worse than that and I still 4 years later feel like i failed my brothers in that platoon. I still write my drill sgt and apologize that i didnt live up to my potential and thank them for believing in me regardless.
For those of you who completed training thank you, for those who tried and couldn't quite make it i pray you're not discouraged. But for those who rose your hand and dont try who look for the quick way out... I pray for you because there are people out there who try and have to make the choice for the lives of others and to explain that to your veterans around you once you made that tough decision... I still have troubles bearing the burden of that failure.
I love you all, stay vigilant, healthy, safe, and above all stay hooah/oorah/hoorah/whatever other terminology I missed out there.

Hello everyone, I know this is the US army but I will be joining the British army soon as an infantry soldier.
Just wanted to say I’m very proud of everyone that is going into that choice in life.
I will be running a 25km fundraiser for Britishlegion which offers help for veterans and family’s who have lost family members in service.
Just wanted to know you all should be very proud

Hello everyone, I trust we are all good? I saw a lot of comments over the week concerning unemployments, Credit card debt, house debt, car debt and loans all this have been a major problem in our recent societies, I know is pretty bad for some people and that’s why we need to come together and help the masses in anyway we can, nothing is too small or no advise is a waste. Remember we rise by lifting others! So let’s spread this love out and I’m here for anyone who needs my help.
Have a blessed day everyone!

On the check off list it mentions something about the Draft we don't have a Draft anymore even though you do have to register with selective service the modern military is all volunteers.
Btw if you don't register it can effect student loans among other things.
