Hellllloooo! It’s the end of the year...a lot of folks are working on reframing in the new year. I know I am! What’s 1 habit you want to update in 2021?

I would like to be better at setting boundaries with people and do what is best for me and what makes me happy instead of always refrain myself to other people’s wishes! And also have more confidence in my capabilities!

I often feel out of place like I don’t really fit in society and here. Not because I hate it here but because I feel like no one truly understands why I feel certain things and why those things bring me so much joy or sadness. I’m not sure how to explain it. So when I have these strong feelings I write them down

@sofia-b-4 I’d like to challenge you. You wrote “It’s very hard to change”...that means that is what you are believing and that is what you are receiving. I want you to reframe this belief. Start saying to yourself “I can make changes” Keep that as a mantra. Focus on the positive result you want. Words are powerful, as I’m sure you know.

Yes I need to do that!!! Same for my capabilities. I’m so used to tell myself that I’ll never get into this master because my skills aren’t there yet, or I’m not as good as other people so I won’t get in anyway. That then I start to believe it and I find writing applications a dreadful task because of it

I know it’s easy to *say* these things, but I know we can take control. It may not work every time but the more we practice the easier it becomes

So for example in terms of my applications that I’m finding very hard to complete because I believe i am not capable enough. What would you suggest I do in order to change that patter on thought I started to believe. I have a very good BA from a very good university, did very good in my previous experiences, but I still believe that I’m not good enough. I really want to change and be more confident in myself, in my choices and my experiences

This cycle is the focus of work for many of my private clients. We humans are easily swayed by the negative. We have a bias towards it unfortunately.

First step is to understand that it is very very common to have doubts about one’s self. The media, bad teachers, and hurt people all affect us so that we have trouble believing in ourselves at times.

The next step is making the decision to question this stinkin’ thinkin’. It’s really hard to hold 2 conflicting beliefs in our heads at the same time. When a negative self talk cycle starts give yourself a prompt like: “NOPE!” Or “Not today!” And switch your thought to something useful. In the beginning it may feel like you are faking it a bit and that’s totally ok. Fake it until you see the reality of the situation. You ARE capable. You ARE worthy, and people are benefited by what you have to offer. That’s what you should be journaling about every day.

Thank you so much Filomena!!!! This was so helpful! I will start journaling more about the positives rather than the negatives all the time!!! Yes I am so positive and encourage my friend so much all the time. But I do the opposite with myself, I will try my best to do it!!

If you need to @sofia-b-4 talk to yourself the way you would talk to and encourage a friend or family member you love. It takes effort but you CAN take control of the thought cycle.
